I think I have you all beat. I grew up across the street from the Park by the Roller Coaster. Our house was/is Right on the corner of 46th & Sheridan. This was in the 50's. You could hear & see the Rolly Coaster all the time. We went to the park so much they just let us in anytime. Seems like we knew everybody !!. We spent alot of time at the Midget Races, my dad & I. Roy Bowls was our favorite racer. Burnt my hand real good when I touched the hot exhaust of his car. (Never did that again !!) My sister & I knew ever nook & cranny of the park and rode on everything they had. Even the Wooden boats (Chris Crafts) with the inboard motors. We used to catch Horny Toads in the field beneath the rolly coaster. What great times we had. What memories we have. There used to be rail tracks on 46th next to our house but I see in photos that they are gone now. Then there was Inspiration Point just up the hill!!! But that's another story !! This summer, my Bride of 43 years and I are going to the park to fulfill part of my Bucket List. See Ya There.

Oh Yea, later worked there and at Eilich Gardens for a short time.

I went to Lakeside every summer between 1960 & 1995. The earlier years were great with the creepy laughing fat woman, the fun house, the old ballroom. Was still fun later on, feeding the carp and the excellent kiddieland for my two boys. We still laugh recalling the first time we put our 5-year old on the kiddie roller coaster. I guess he was really scared, but didn't yell....just kept saying "help" "help me" every time he went by. HAHAHAHAHA. (we really weren't bad parents!) He went on to be a competitive bmx trick bike rider so maybe that ride helped him out!

8-p Hi, I been to the park several times in my life , but once in 1993 I went and my cousin was with me first thing I did was walk in and point at the restrooms and said really loud "Ring one "a dung a dung dung" and it just happened to be the rap group I.C.P. was there they talked to me and 1 of them recorded me and later asked what i want for the ideas and lyrics he wanted to use my stuff on his cd's I said 1 million dollars he agreed if they made that kind of money off it. his name is Joe Utsler the 2 of them painted black and white faces, maybe rhoda the owner remembers she got upset about the comment or joke I made eventually they got asked to leave by security, I've heard that guy is trying to pay me that money from a friend, It was 2005 and he was on kbpi radio looking for me to call in he knows me by my initials "DJ", If you or anyone there has heard of this please contact me, ....DJ

Anyone remember swimming in the pool?

The fun house and wild chipmunk were my favorites. Grew up in north Denver and spent a lot summer days there.

B-) Wow, I can't believe Lakeside is still there. My Grandfather lived two streets over. I have great memories there. My favorite was the fun house. It has been about 30 years since I've been there. I can't wait to take my boys next summer.

The FUNHOUSE was the best !!! Does anyone out there remember "the good old days" at Lakeside when they had the millions of cat fish willing to eat the popcorn etc. you would throw out to them near the walk over bridge? And, the awesome "fun house" that included the fat laughing lady, then once inside they had the turning walking tunnels, the record (my FAVORITE of course, the record was a flat piece of wood that you would sit on then get blown off once it started up), the cage (that would turn you around and around at a high rate of speed), the wave (the walk paths that would jump you up and down as you walked over), the various slides one higher and faster then the over etc...never seen anything else the same anywhere else in the world. That was the bomb!!! We will miss those good old days at Lakeside not to mention the years of 4th of July celebration displays near the lake and the kissing of the boys inside the train ride once you would hit the entrance of the tunnel!!!! LOL 8-| **) Thank you Lakeside!!!

This is one of the best parks in the country! It's so nostalgic and beautiful, while being so inexpensive (unlike some other parks we know of) and so fun. Definitely coming back this weekend! 6(^)6

Thank You, for getting the Cyclone up and running again! It's our favorite roller coaster. I rode the Cyclone 22 times on your last day of operation in 2008. I can't wait to break my record! See You Soon. Wade & Laura 6(^)6

One of the best memories of my life. The sheer beauty and Mary Poppinsesque timelessness of the architecture, details and vibrancy of childhood live here always.

I am a Native of Colorado and lakeside has found memories. It was our 4th of July trip with the whole family when i was young. It always had been afforable, nostalgic and endless fun. It has been one of the few places in colorado that on the hot sunny days we could always find shade in the park, no matter where you were at. My parents wouold by a bucket of Ketucky Fried Chicken and then let us run off with my brothers and sisters. recently i have brought my wife and children there and for the price it's wonderful. There are things that could be better like any place you go, but for the kiddie land, there is no other place that beats the variety Lakeside offers.

Thanks Lakeside

We are headed over there later today! Lakeside is a great place - not commercially driven like the other sell-out place in town.

I spent a lot of time at Lakeside as a kid and, tho I really miss the fun house, it always feels like a walk down memory lane.

My father use to race cars on the old track years ago! That is until kids came along and mom said NO MORE!!

Thanks for sticking around Lakeside! 6(^)6

Lakeside, a place of so many childhood memories, I remeber driving over the hill on Sheridan and seeing that tower, the excitment, to escape to a a whole other world.. As a teenager Lakeside provided my first job (I loved it!)I left Denver for for 12 years, when I came back the first place I wanted to see was Lakeside. I took all my cousins and their kids so we could all enjoy the memories together with our kids. I am so glad it's still there however was very sad to see how it has deteriorated. It's like a classic that needs to be restored.. If just the tower please replace the bulbs I will volunteer to help! Please bring back the flowers! (just an idea how about a DJ in the park) that would be fun.. So many possibilities to restore some old magic.. I would love to help.

Monday I took my 5 yr old and 16 yr old to Lakeside for the first time. We had a great time. This is the first time I've been there in over 20 year and it brought back memories. It's nice to be able to share a little bit of history with my kids. We are going back today with my twin 3 year old boys.

I want to say thank you! Yesterday my wife and I took our daughters to the park and we all had such a fantastic time. Earlier this summer we all went to Elitch's and did not have nearly as much fun as we did at Lakeside, and only spent a fraction of the money than we did at Elitch's. Those in the know will come here. Great job Lakeside! Thanks again!

We just went to Lakeside for the first time last weekend with our three young children. What a gem! They had a wonderful time. We love that we can bring in our own picnic and don't feel overpressured to buy lots of stuff. The vintage rides are great and we loved the tower and trains too. Thank you for such a unique spot for fun!

MY first visit to Lakeside was when I was 3 yrs old. I rode the roller coaster with my Dad! I was so scared I didn't ride it again til I was 19! My children and grandchildren and I go as a family at least once every summer! I do miss the race track. 3 of my siblings raced there for many years.(I actually think I can hear the engines roaring when I get in the parking lot!) I have lots of wonderful memories and reminise back to the good ole' days when we visit.PLEASE, please keep the park open for at least another 100 years!!!! 8-|

I THINK LAKESIDE IS THE BEST PLACE ON EARTH.

THE ONLY THING THAT WOULD MAKE IT BETTER IS IF THEY BROUGHT BACK THE FAT LAUGHING LADY. WE ALL KNOW SHE'S HIDING SOMEWHERE UP IN THAT TOWER!

I LOVE Lakeside and second the comments about value, no lines and (old) shade trees compared to the other park and it's full of awesome childhood memories for me. I grew up in Denver and we used to always watch the fireworks over the lake and go to the races at the Speedway and always took in the Funhouse! Alas, the Laughing Lady, Funhouse and Speedway are there no more and I for one sure miss them, but I can't wait to take my daughter there again this summer!
